Kitchen Story Sdn. Bhd. completed this interior design project at Stramax Residences, Sungai Ara, Bayan Lepas, Penang, focusing on a modern luxury concept for the living room, TV feature wall, dining area and dry kitchen cabinet.

The design direction uses a darker, more premium colour palette with warm lighting, marble-inspired surfaces and wood accents. The result is a clean yet bold interior that gives the home a stronger visual identity while still maintaining practical storage and daily usability.

Design Concept

The concept for this Stramax Residences project is modern dark luxury with warm contrast. The TV feature wall uses a full-height dark marble-look surface to create a strong focal point in the living area. Warm lighting beneath the TV cabinet softens the dark tone and makes the living room feel more comfortable.

The dry kitchen cabinet was designed with a clean built-in layout, dark cabinet doors and a bright countertop. The island counter adds extra preparation space and also works as a casual breakfast area. The dining space is visually connected to the kitchen and living room through matching dark tones, warm wood details and pendant lighting.

Design Challenges

The main challenge was to create a premium dark interior without making the space feel too heavy, especially because dark cabinetry and marble-look panels can visually reduce brightness if not planned correctly.

Another challenge was maintaining a consistent design language between the living room, TV cabinet, dry kitchen and dining area. These spaces are connected, so the materials, lighting and colours needed to look coordinated rather than separated.

Our Solution

We balanced the darker cabinet and feature wall tones with warm lighting, lighter flooring and wood accents. The TV feature wall was designed as the main visual statement, while the dry kitchen and dining area used matching dark finishes in a more controlled way.

The dry kitchen layout was planned for both appearance and function, including practical countertop space, built-in storage and appliance placement. Soft-closing fittings such as DTC hinges and BLUM drawer systems were used to improve the long-term user experience and daily cabinet operation.

Final Outcome

The completed design gives Stramax Residences a modern, premium and memorable interior identity. The living room feels elegant and bold, while the dry kitchen remains functional, organised and suitable for daily use.
