Full House Custom Carpentry, Interior Fit-Out & Glass Partition Works
Kitchen Story Sdn. Bhd. completed this full house carpentry and interior fit-out project at Spectrum Garden, Bukit Mertajam, Penang. The project covered multiple areas of the home, including the kitchen, bedrooms, living area, staircase zone and general interior works. The design direction focused on practical storage, clean modern detailing and a balanced combination of wood textures, neutral colours and darker feature elements.
For this project, the homeowner required a complete carpentry solution that could improve daily functionality while keeping the house visually clean and coordinated. Our team customised the kitchen cabinet, wardrobes, bed frames, bedheads, TV cabinet, feature storage and aluminium glass partition according to the actual site layout and the client’s usage needs.
A key feature of this project is the aluminium and glass partition used to separate the living and kitchen area. This helps define the space clearly while still allowing natural light to pass through, making the home feel more open, brighter and more organised.

Interior design and space planning

Materials & Fittings Used
For the cabinetry works, we used practical and durable materials suitable for daily residential use:
White melamine cabinet carcass
Solid plywood with high pressure laminates finishing
Colour melamine panels with ABS edging
Woodgrain laminate finishing for warmer feature areas
Glass door panels for selected display cabinets
Aluminium and glass partition frame system
Quartz / solid surface style countertop finishing, subject to final project specification
DTC soft-closing door hinges
BLUM drawer system
For the kitchen cabinet, the design combines light upper cabinet tones with darker and stone-textured lower cabinet finishes. This creates a modern contrast while keeping the kitchen practical and easy to maintain. The bedroom carpentry uses warm wood tones to create a more comfortable and natural resting environment.
Design Concept
The overall concept is a modern practical home interior with warm wood accents and clean storage planning.
Instead of using overly decorative detailing, the design focuses on proportion, clean cabinet lines and material contrast. The bedrooms use timber tones for the bed frame, bedhead and wardrobe areas, creating a warmer and more relaxing feel. The kitchen and living areas use a stronger contrast of white, grey, black and woodgrain finishes to create a modern and structured look.
The TV cabinet area includes a feature wall with vertical timber detailing and warm lighting, giving the living space a more premium focal point without making the area feel heavy.
Design Challenges
The main challenge was to create a complete built-in carpentry system for different areas of the house while keeping the design consistent. Since the project involved kitchen cabinets, wardrobes, bed frames, bedheads, TV cabinets and storage cabinets, the materials and colours needed to work together across the whole home.
Another challenge was space separation. The client wanted the kitchen and living area to feel separated, but a solid wall would make the home feel smaller and darker. This required a better solution that could provide separation without blocking light.
The bedroom also required careful planning because the bed frame, bedhead, wardrobe and walking space needed to be balanced properly. Poor planning could make the room feel cramped or reduce daily comfort.
Our Solutions
We proposed a coordinated material palette using woodgrain, white, grey and black finishes to create consistency throughout the house. This allowed each area to have its own function while still looking connected as one complete home design.
For the living and kitchen separation, we used an aluminium and glass partition. This solution gives the kitchen a clearer boundary while maintaining visual openness and natural light flow.
For the bedrooms, we customised the bed frame, bedhead and wardrobe according to the available wall space. The built-in design helps maximise storage while keeping the room layout neat and functional.
For the kitchen, we designed practical cabinet storage with soft-closing fittings, drawer systems and suitable countertop space for daily cooking and preparation. The use of DTC soft-closing hinges and BLUM drawer systems improves the daily user experience and supports long-term cabinet performance.
Final Outcome
The completed Spectrum Garden project delivers a practical and modern full house carpentry solution with improved storage, better space definition and a consistent interior design flow. From the kitchen cabinet to the bedroom wardrobes, bed frames, TV cabinet and glass partition, each element was customised to suit the homeowner’s lifestyle and the actual site condition.
This project is a strong example of Kitchen Story’s capability in providing full house custom carpentry, kitchen cabinets, wardrobes, TV cabinets, aluminium glass partition works and interior fit-out services in Bukit Mertajam and Penang.
