Custom Carpentry, Kitchen Cabinet, Wardrobe & Living Space Design
Kitchen Story Sdn. Bhd. completed this custom carpentry project at Skycube Residence Condominium, Sungai Ara, Bayan Lepas, Penang, with a focus on creating a practical, clean and modern home interior. The design direction uses a soft neutral colour palette, light wood grain textures, glossy white cabinet finishes and reflective elements to make the condominium feel brighter, wider and more comfortable for daily living.
This project included customised carpentry works for the living area, kitchen area, bedroom wardrobe, dressing area, shoe cabinet and storage cabinet. Each cabinet was designed to suit the available wall space while maintaining a clean visual flow throughout the unit.
The living area features a long, low-profile TV cabinet with a simple modern design, paired with a full-height feature storage cabinet and display shelving. The combination of white cabinet doors, wood grain panels, open display compartments and soft lighting creates a balanced look that is both functional and visually warm.
For the dining and display area, we designed a tall built-in cabinet with open shelving, glass display doors and concealed storage. This provides practical storage while also acting as a decorative feature wall for the home.
In the bedroom, the wardrobe was designed with sliding doors, mirror panels and organised internal compartments. This helps save space and improves functionality in a condominium bedroom layout. The dressing area was also customised with open hanging space, drawers, shelves and a full-height mirror to support daily use without making the space feel crowded.
The entrance area includes a full-height shoe cabinet with open display shelving, seating area and concealed storage, helping the homeowner keep the foyer neat and practical. The design also makes use of vertical height to maximise storage without blocking movement near the door.

Design Challenges
The main challenge was to maximise storage in a condominium unit without making the interior feel heavy or overcrowded. Skycube Residence units require practical space planning because every cabinet must serve a clear function while still keeping enough walking space.
Another challenge was creating a consistent design language across different areas of the home. The TV cabinet, shoe cabinet, wardrobe, display cabinet and dressing area all needed to look connected, even though each area had different usage requirements.
For the bedroom wardrobe, space-saving was important. A normal swing-door wardrobe would require more clearance, so the wardrobe system needed to be planned carefully to maintain comfortable movement around the bed and dressing area.
Our Solutions
We used a combination of light wood grain, glossy white finishes, glass panels and mirror features to create a clean and modern look. This helps the condominium feel brighter and more spacious while still maintaining enough warmth through the wood texture.
For the living area, we designed a low-profile TV cabinet to keep the wall visually clean, while the tall display cabinet adds storage and decorative value. Open shelving was included to avoid making the cabinet wall look too solid or heavy.
For the bedroom, we used sliding wardrobe doors with mirror panels to save space and visually enlarge the room. The dressing area was designed with practical hanging space, drawers, shelving and mirror placement to support daily use.
For the entrance area, the shoe cabinet was designed with a mix of concealed storage, open display space and a seating platform. This improves convenience while keeping the foyer clean and organised.
Final Outcome
The completed Skycube Residence project presents a practical and modern condominium interior with strong storage planning, clean cabinet detailing and a soft neutral colour palette. The customised carpentry helps the homeowner maximise usable space while maintaining a bright, comfortable and organised home environment.
