Materials & Fittings Used
For this project, the material selection was chosen to support both visual quality and daily practicality.
The cabinetry used a combination of white melamine carcass, solid plywood with high pressure laminate finishes, woodgrain laminate panels, glossy cabinet door finishes, selected glass door panels, and durable ABS edging for exposed cabinet edges.
For the kitchen areas, the design includes a clean white cabinet system paired with a light countertop finish, creating a bright and easy-to-maintain cooking environment. The dry kitchen integrates built-in appliances, tall storage and a pull-out pantry system, while the wet kitchen is enclosed with glass to control cooking fumes and separate heavy-use cooking from the main living area.
The fittings used include DTC soft-closing door hinges, BLUM drawer systems, and suitable soft-closing hardware for smoother daily operation and better long-term cabinet performance.
Design Concept
The overall concept is a modern practical family home with warm woodgrain detailing and clean built-in storage.
The dry kitchen and wet kitchen use a clean white palette to make the space feel bright, organised and easy to maintain. The wardrobe and bedroom carpentry introduce warmer wood tones, creating a more comfortable and natural feel for private spaces.
The altar cabinet was designed as a strong visual feature in the living area, with warm lighting and woodgrain finishes to create a calm and respectful focal point. The entertainment room built-in furniture, storage cabinets and display cabinets were planned to support both daily use and visual presentation.
Key Design Highlights
One of the strongest features of this project is the separation between the dry and wet kitchen. The dry kitchen remains visually connected to the dining and living area, while the wet kitchen is enclosed with glass panels for better cooking control and cleaner space management.
The bathrooms were upgraded with custom vanity sink cabinets and mirror storage cabinets, improving usability while keeping the design consistent with the rest of the home.
For the bedrooms, the custom bedhead, side tables, wardrobes and tatami platform bed were designed to maximise usable space without relying on loose furniture. This creates a cleaner layout and better storage efficiency.
Design Challenges
The main challenge was the scale of the project. As a 3-storey linked home, the project required multiple carpentry zones to be designed and coordinated together. Each area had different usage needs, but the overall design still needed to feel consistent.
Another challenge was storage planning. The client required many types of built-in storage, including wardrobes, shoe cabinets, pantry units, display cabinets, bathroom cabinets and entertainment room storage. Poor planning would easily make the house feel heavy or overcrowded.
The kitchen layout also required careful separation between dry and wet cooking areas. The design needed to keep the dry kitchen presentable while making the wet kitchen practical for daily cooking.
Our Solutions
We used a coordinated material palette of white, woodgrain, glass and soft lighting to keep the entire home visually consistent. Instead of making every cabinet look the same, we adjusted the material combination according to each area’s function.
For the kitchen, the dry area was designed with built-in appliances, tall storage and clean cabinet lines to support a modern lifestyle. The wet kitchen was enclosed with glass partitioning to reduce cooking fumes spreading into the living and dining area.
For bedrooms and storage areas, we customised the wardrobes, bedheads, side tables and tatami platform bed to suit the available wall space. This helped reduce the need for loose furniture and improved the overall space efficiency.
For the altar cabinet, display cabinet and entertainment room built-ins, we used warm lighting and woodgrain finishes to create a more premium and comfortable home atmosphere.
Final Outcome
The completed Raffles Residence 199 project delivers a complete full house carpentry solution that improves storage, functionality and visual consistency throughout the home. From kitchen cabinets and wardrobes to bathroom vanity cabinets, altar cabinet, tatami platform, display cabinet and entertainment room furniture, every built-in element was customised to suit the homeowner’s lifestyle and the actual site condition.
