Kitchen Story Sdn. Bhd. completed this custom interior design and cabinetry project for a condominium unit at Forestville Condominium, Sungai Ara, Bayan Lepas, Penang. The client’s main focus was to improve the kitchen and bedroom areas with a brighter, cleaner, and more practical design while keeping the overall home feeling warm, modern, and comfortable.

For the kitchen, the client wanted a bright cabinet design with a hint of natural texture. We proposed a clean modern concept using a combination of white cabinetry, natural wood texture finishes, and soft lighting to create a brighter and more spacious kitchen environment. The kitchen was designed to support daily cooking, storage, and family use while maintaining a neat and timeless appearance.

For the bedroom, the space was more compact, so the design had to be highly practical. We created a customised bedroom layout with a wardrobe integrated with a dressing table, privacy partition, and a tatami platform with storage steps and drawers. This allowed the room to include sleeping, storage, dressing, and display functions without making the space feel overcrowded.

Another bedroom was designed with a modern wardrobe and bedhead feature, using layered wall painting instead of a plain solid wall colour. This helped create more depth and character while keeping the overall design simple and elegant.

All cabinetry was built with white melamine carcass, while the doors and panels were finished with solid plywood and high-pressure laminates with ABS edging. For smoother daily use, we used DTC soft-closing door hinges and BLUM drawer systems.

Design Concept

The overall concept for this Forestville Condominium project is modern, bright, compact, and practical.

The kitchen uses a lighter colour palette with natural texture to make the space feel clean and refreshing. The white upper cabinets help visually enlarge the kitchen, while the wood-textured lower cabinets and open display niche add warmth and balance.

The bedroom design uses a softer and more personalised approach. The combination of grey, blush pink, white, and wood tones creates a calm, comfortable, and modern bedroom. The tatami platform helps maximise storage, while the integrated wardrobe and dressing table make better use of limited space.
