PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Nippon Paint Protective Finish FD (Fast Dry) is a high-quality, oil-modified alkyd-based finish specifically engineered for the protection and decoration of iron and steel surfaces. This "Fast Dry" formulation is ideal for industrial and commercial environments where efficiency is key, allowing for quicker handling and assembly of components. It forms a tough, durable, and weather-resistant film that maintains its gloss even under non-immersion outdoor conditions. While primarily designed for metal structures like factory frames, machinery, and gates, it can also be used on wood surfaces when paired with a suitable undercoat.

Application Instructions
-
Preparation: Stir the paint thoroughly with a clean paddle before use to ensure a uniform consistency and color.
-
Brush / Roller: Typically ready for use. If necessary, add a maximum of 5% Nippon General Purpose Thinner.
-
Compressed Air Spray: Add 10% to 15% thinner by volume for optimal atomization.
-
Airless Spray: Use a delivery pressure of 140–170 kg/cm² with a tip size of 0.015” – 0.017” and a spray angle of 60° - 70°. Dilute up to 5% if required.
-
Cleaning: Clean all tools and equipment with Nippon General Purpose Thinner immediately after use.

Surface Preparation
-
General Cleaning: Surfaces must be dry, clean, and free from dirt, grease, oil, and processing lubricants.
-
Steel Surfaces: Remove all loose rust, mill scale, and old paint using power tool cleaning to a minimum of St 3 (ISO 8501-1) or abrasive blasting to Sa 2.5 for optimum performance.
-
Galvanized Steel: Ensure the surface is degreased and apply a suitable etching primer or tie-coat before the Protective Finish FD to ensure adhesion.
-
Previously Painted Surfaces: Remove all loose or flaking paint film. Lightly sand sound existing coatings to provide a mechanical "key" for the new layer.
-
Humidity: Do not apply if the relative humidity exceeds 85% or if the surface temperature is less than 3°C above the dew point, as this may lead to loss of gloss.
