PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Nippon Paint Flexiseal is a premium, water-based elastomeric acrylic membrane coating designed specifically for the protection of exterior masonry surfaces. This high-performance coating features exceptional elasticity, allowing it to stretch and bridge hairline cracks caused by structural movement or thermal expansion. It acts as a powerful barrier against wind-driven rain, prevents carbonation, and resists the penetration of water-borne salts and chloride ions. Formulated with advanced UV-resistant technology, Flexiseal ensures long-lasting color retention and durability in harsh tropical climates. It is an ideal solution for high-rise buildings, bungalows, and commercial properties requiring a superior waterproof and crack-bridging finish.

Technical Data

• Paint Type: Water-based (Exterior)

• Finishing: Low Sheen

• Thinning: Ready for use. If necessary, dilute with maximum 5% clean water.

• Touch Dry: 1 – 2 hours (depending on temperature and humidity)

• Hard Dry: 24 hours

• Recoating Interval: Minimum 4 hours

• Theoretical Coverage: 5.0 – 6.0 m² per litre (depending on substrate porosity and required thickness)

• Elongation: > 300% (at break)

• Shelf Life: Up to 24 months in a tightly sealed container

Application Instructions

• Application Method: Apply using a Brush, Roller, or Conventional/Airless Spray.

• Mixing: Stir the paint thoroughly before use to ensure a uniform consistency.

• Coating Thickness: For effective crack-bridging, a higher film build is required compared to standard paints. Ensure even distribution without over-spreading.

• Cleaning: Clean all tools and equipment with clean water immediately after use.

• Note: Do not apply during wet weather or if rain is expected within 2-4 hours. Humidity should be below 85% for optimal curing.

Recommended Coating System

• Sealer/Primer (1 Coat): 5100 Wall Sealer / 8100 Weatherbond Sealer / Ultra Sealer (for chalky surfaces).

• Intermediate/Topcoat (2 Coats): Flexiseal Elastomeric Membrane.

• Note: For areas with severe structural cracks, it is recommended to use a polyester mesh reinforcement embedded between coats.

Surface Preparation

• General Cleaning: Surfaces must be dry, clean, and free from dirt, grease, oil, and loose matter.

• Crack Repair: Hairline cracks can be bridged by the paint. However, cracks wider than 0.5mm should be widened and filled with a suitable flexible filler like Nippon Paint CrackREPAIR.

• Debris Removal: Remove all loose or defective paint, powdery residues, and dust by scraping or high-pressure water jetting.

• Biological Treatment: Treat areas affected by fungus or algae growth with Nippon Paint Fungicidal Wash and rinse thoroughly.

• Conditioning: New concrete/plaster must be allowed to cure for at least 28 days. Moisture content must be below 16% and alkalinity below pH 9.
