PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Nippon Paint Water Repellent Solution is a high-quality, solvent-based clear coat based on a specialized silane/siloxane mixture. It is designed to provide invisible, deep-penetrating protection for exterior concrete and masonry surfaces. Unlike film-forming coatings, this solution works by impregnating the substrate, creating a hydrophobic (water-repellent) zone that significantly reduces capillary water absorption. It effectively prevents the ingress of rain and water-borne salts without blocking the pores or capillaries of the material, allowing the substrate to "breathe" and moisture vapor to escape. This prevents common issues like efflorescence, alkaline staining, and reinforcement corrosion caused by chloride.

Application Instructions

• Application Method: Apply using a Brush, Roller, or Low-pressure Spray (Flooding method).

• Technique: Highly recommended to apply two passes "wet-on-wet." The second coat should be applied before the first coat has completely dried to ensure maximum penetration and a uniform hydrophobic zone.

• Dilution: Ready for use. No thinning or dilution is required.

• Cleaning: Clean all tools and equipment with a suitable solvent (thinner) immediately after use.

• Note: For vertical surfaces, apply from the top down, allowing the solution to run down (flood) about 15-20cm to ensure full saturation.

Recommended Coating System

• Option A (As an Impregnating Agent/Stand-alone): 2 coats (passes) of Water Repellent Solution (wet-on-wet).

• Option B (As a Primer/Sealer): 1-2 coats of Water Repellent Solution followed by a suitable topcoat like Nippon Durasil or silicone emulsion paints.

• Compatibility: Suitable for masonry, bare cement, brick surfaces, and natural stone with texture.

Surface Preparation

• General Cleaning: Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free from dirt, grease, oil, and loose matter.

• Debris Removal: Remove all powdery residues, loose chalk, and dust. Surfaces should be cleaned thoroughly with water jets if necessary and allowed to dry completely.

• Biological Treatment: Treat areas affected by fungus or algae growth with Nippon Paint Fungicidal Wash and rinse thoroughly before application.

• Repair: Fill cracks and surface defects with suitable exterior-grade fillers.

• Conditions: Moisture content must be below 16% (measured by protimeter) and alkalinity below pH 9. New concrete must be allowed to cure for at least 28 days.
