PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Nippon Paint Zinc Phosphate Primer FD is a high-performance, fast-drying, solvent-based primer specifically formulated for the protection of iron and steel surfaces. This rust-inhibiting primer contains zinc phosphate pigments that provide a robust barrier against corrosion, moisture, and oxidation. It is designed for both interior and exterior metalwork under non-immersion conditions, offering a reliable foundation for various topcoats. Its fast-drying nature significantly reduces downtime, making it an excellent choice for industrial and commercial projects where efficiency and long-term metal protection are critical.

Dilution: Use Nippon Paint General Purpose Thinner. Adjust the dilution percentage according to the chosen application method to ensure optimal film thickness.
-
Cleaning: Clean all painting tools and equipment with General Purpose Thinner immediately after use.
-
Environment: Ensure the work area is well-ventilated during application and drying.
Recommended Coating System
-
Primer (1-2 Coats): Nippon Paint Zinc Phosphate Primer FD.
-
Topcoat: PU Recoatable Finish or other compatible solvent-based topcoats for vibrant color and heavy-duty protection.
-
Note: Solvent-based topcoats should be paired with compatible solvent-based primers for the best results.
Surface Preparation
-
General Cleaning: Surfaces must be structurally sound, dry, and free from oil, grease, dirt, and loose matter.
-
Rust Removal: All rust, mill scale, and oxide films must be removed by wire brushing, power tool cleaning, or abrasive blasting to ensure proper adhesion.
-
Existing Coatings: Remove any peeling or poorly adherent paint. If the existing coating is sound, lightly sand the surface to provide a mechanical key for the new primer.
-
Dryness: The metal substrate must be completely dry. Any moisture trapped during application can lead to premature rust formation or adhesion failure.
