PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Nippon Paint Slate Finish (Satin) is a high-quality, solvent-based acrylic clear protective coating specifically formulated for slate, natural stone, interlocking pavers, and various masonry surfaces. It provides a durable, satin-sheen finish that enhances the natural color and texture of the substrate while offering a sophisticated, low-glare look. Engineered for both interior and exterior use, this coating acts as a transparent shield against UV rays, weathering, and water penetration. It is particularly effective at preventing the growth of fungus and algae, as well as protecting surfaces from dirt and light chemical stains, making it an essential finish for driveways, walkways, and decorative stone walls.

Application Instructions
-
Application Method: Apply using a high-quality Brush, Roller, or Conventional Air Spray.
-
Mixing: Stir the contents thoroughly before and during use to ensure a uniform satin finish.
-
Dilution: The product is ready to use. Do not over-thin, as it will reduce the protective film thickness and durability.
-
Cleaning: Clean all tools and equipment with Nippon SLF Thinner or a suitable aromatic solvent immediately after use.
-
Note: Ensure the application environment is well-ventilated. Do not apply if rain is expected within 4 hours.
Recommended Coating System
-
Primer: Usually not required as the first coat acts as the sealer/primer.
-
Finishing (2-3 Coats): Nippon Paint Slate Finish (Satin).
-
Note: For very porous stones, a third coat may be necessary to achieve a uniform satin appearance and maximum protection.
Surface Preparation
-
General Cleaning: Surfaces must be structurally sound, dry, clean, and free from dirt, oil, grease, wax, and loose matter.
-
Efflorescence/Dust: Remove all white powdery residues (efflorescence) and dust by wire brushing or high-pressure water jetting.
-
Dryness: The substrate must be completely dry. Moisture trapped under the film can cause the coating to turn cloudy or white (blooming).
-
Fungus/Algae: Treat areas affected by biological growth with Nippon Paint Fungicidal Wash and ensure the surface is rinsed and dried before coating.
-
New Surfaces: Ensure new concrete or masonry has cured for at least 28 days before application.
