PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Nippon Paint Odourlite Undercoat is a premium low-odor, solvent-based undercoat specifically formulated to provide a solid foundation for wood and metal surfaces. It is designed to work in tandem with Odourlite Gloss Finish or Odourlite Soft Matt to provide a high-quality, long-lasting paint system. This undercoat features excellent opacity and "build," which helps in hiding substrate imperfections and providing a smooth, uniform surface for the topcoat. Its unique low-odor formula makes it significantly more pleasant to apply than traditional solvent-based undercoats, making it ideal for interior renovations in occupied spaces such as homes, hotels, and hospitals. It offers excellent adhesion and prevents the "grinning through" of previous dark colors.

Application Instructions

• Application Method: Apply using a high-quality Brush, Roller, or Conventional Air Spray.

• Dilution: Ready for use after thorough stirring. If thinning is required for workability or spray application, use Nippon Odourlite Thinner to maintain the low-odor properties.

• Cleaning: Clean all painting equipment with Nippon Odourlite Thinner or mineral spirits immediately after use.

• Note: Ensure adequate ventilation during application. Although low odor, it is still a solvent-based product and should be handled with care.

Recommended Coating System

For Metal Surfaces:

• Primer (1 Coat): Red Oxide Primer / Zinc Phosphate Primer.

• Undercoat (1 Coat): Odourlite Undercoat.

• Topcoat (2 Coats): Odourlite Gloss Finish / Odourlite Soft Matt.

For Wood Surfaces:

• Primer (1 Coat): 9000 Aluminium Wood Primer (for resinous wood) or Odourlite Undercoat.

• Undercoat (1 Coat): Odourlite Undercoat.

• Topcoat (2 Coats): Odourlite Gloss Finish / Odourlite Soft Matt.

Surface Preparation

• General Cleaning: Surfaces must be dry, clean, and free from dirt, grease, oil, and wax.

• Wood Surfaces: Sand the wood surface thoroughly along the grain to remove splinters and unevenness. Wipe off all dust before application.

• Metal Surfaces: Remove all rust, mill scale, and loose paint by wire brushing or sanding. For new metal, degrease the surface with a suitable solvent.

• Previously Painted Surfaces: Remove all loose or peeling paint. For surfaces in good condition, lightly sand to provide a mechanical key for better adhesion and wipe clean.
