Interior Design, Kitchen Cabinet, Wardrobe & Custom Storage Cabinet Project

Kitchen Story Sdn. Bhd. completed this residential cabinetry and interior design project at Raintree Park, Pearl City, Simpang Ampat, Penang, focusing on practical space planning, durable materials, and clean modern finishing.

The project scope included interior design service, custom kitchen cabinet fabrication, aluminium glass partition sliding door, master bedroom wardrobe, altar cabinet, workstation cabinet, and under-stair storage cabinet with hidden door design. The overall concept combines warm wood tones, white cabinet fronts, black framed glass, and functional built-in storage to create a neat, modern, and space-efficient home interior.

For the kitchen area, we designed and built a new custom kitchen cabinet using solid plywood carcass with laminate door finishing and ABS edging. The countertop was completed with Quartz Stone, offering a clean appearance, practical durability, and better resistance for daily kitchen use. The kitchen was also separated from the living and dining area using an aluminium glass partition sliding door, helping to control cooking smell while maintaining visual openness and natural light flow.

In the master bedroom, Kitchen Story designed a full-height wardrobe using melamine colour carcass and Glass GM wardrobe doors. With internal LED lighting, the wardrobe creates a more premium display effect while improving visibility and daily usability. The dark frame and glass door combination gives the bedroom a modern boutique-style appearance.

Another key feature of this project is the custom under-stair storage cabinet with hidden door design. Instead of leaving the staircase area unused, we converted the space into practical concealed storage. This helps the homeowner maximise storage capacity without affecting the clean visual appearance of the living area.

Design Concept

The design direction for this project is modern, practical and warm, using a balanced combination of white, wood grain, black aluminium frame, glass, and soft lighting.

The kitchen uses a bright white cabinet finish with warm wood open shelving details, creating a cleaner and more spacious appearance. The aluminium glass sliding door gives the kitchen a more defined space without making the home feel enclosed. For the bedroom, the glass wardrobe door and LED lighting create a more premium and organised look, while the under-stair hidden storage keeps the living area clean and functional.

Challenges

1. Separating the Kitchen Without Making the Space Feel Small

The homeowner needed a proper separation between the kitchen and living/dining area, especially to control cooking smell and improve daily usage. However, a solid wall would make the space feel darker and more enclosed.

2. Maximising Storage in a Limited Residential Layout

The house required more storage solutions, especially around the staircase and bedroom area, without making the interior look bulky or messy.

3. Creating a Premium Wardrobe Look While Maintaining Practical Use

The master bedroom wardrobe needed to look modern and premium, but it also had to remain practical for daily clothing storage and easy access.

4. Material Selection for Long-Term Daily Use

The kitchen and cabinet areas required materials that are practical, durable, and suitable for frequent residential use.

Solutions

Aluminium Glass Partition Sliding Door

We used an aluminium glass partition sliding door to separate the kitchen from the living area. This helps reduce cooking smell transfer while keeping the space visually open, bright, and modern.

Custom Under-Stair Hidden Storage

The under-stair area was converted into a custom storage cabinet with hidden door design. This solution maximises unused space while maintaining a clean and seamless interior appearance.

Glass GM Wardrobe Door with LED Lighting

For the master bedroom, the wardrobe was designed with Glass GM door panels and internal LED lighting. This creates a more elegant visual outcome and improves the user experience when selecting clothes or organising items.

Solid Plywood Kitchen Cabinet with Quartz Stone Countertop

The kitchen cabinet was built using solid plywood with laminate door finishing and ABS edging, paired with a Quartz Stone countertop. This combination provides a practical balance between appearance, durability, and long-term usability.

Why This Project Works Well

This project is successful because the design does not only focus on appearance. It solves real homeowner needs: better kitchen separation, more storage, cleaner visual flow, and improved daily usability.

The aluminium glass partition keeps the kitchen functional without closing off the home. The under-stair hidden cabinet turns wasted space into useful storage. The master bedroom wardrobe adds a premium look while remaining practical. The overall result is a home that feels modern, organised, and comfortable for daily living.
